SAIC Motor 2007 profit more than doubled

SAIC Motor Corp on Wednesday reported its 2007 net profit more than doubled from a year earlier on strong sales and capital support from its parent company.

Shanghai GM exported 20,000 vehicles overseas in 2007

Shanghai General Motors sold over 20,000 vehicles last year in markets outside China, according to Shanghai Securities News today.
Shanghai GM exported a sedan model Chevrolet Lova and engines to Ukraine and a MPV model GL8 to the Philippines.

Nissan to Sell Chinese Dongfeng Pick-Ups Overseas

Nissan Motor Co. plans to offer Dongfeng pick-up trucks internationally, becoming the first major carmaker to add a Chinese brand to its global sales network.
The Japanese carmaker will also sell Nissan-brand Paladin multipurpose vehicles made by Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co. overseas, Guo Zhenfu, the venture’s president, said in an interview in Beijing yesterday.

Toyota slashes cost of Prius in China to reverse flat sales

Toyota Motor Corp has cut the price of its Chinese-made Prius hybrid car by up to eight percent to help reverse flat sales.
The move will help Toyota strengthen its market position in China’s green car market amid coming challenges from General Motors Corp and Honda, analysts said.

SAIC, Baosteel and Donghua to reorganize Nanjing Tooling Co

Shanghai Automotive Industrial Corporation (SAIC), the Baosteel Group and Donghua signed an agreement in Nanjing yesterday to organize the former Yuejing Motor Group Nanjing Tooling Co, Chinese Business News reported today.
Under the agreement, SAIC, Baosteel each owns a 35 percent stake of the joint venture and Donghua owns a 30 percent stake.
