TD-SCDMA to face uphill battle outside China

TD-SCDMA is expected to be the dominant 3G technology in China due to the heavyweight government support it receives. However, according to ABI Research analyst Hwai Lin Khor, “TD-SCDMA is likely to face an uphill battle outside of Mainland China, even in Hong Kong.”

Morgan Stanley lifts ratings on China Telecom, China Netcom

Morgan Stanley newly lifted its rating on China Telecom and China Netcom from “underweight” to “neutral” respectively, saying their prices will go up, thanks to the anticipation for China’s telecom industry reshuffle.
The investment bank said the discussion about the reshuffle will be promoted in the first quarter of 2008.

China Unicom expects to continue operating two mobile networks this year, despite reports that it will be forced to sell off its CDMA operation under a government restructure plan.
