China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II) announced on Wednesday that it will invest more than three billion yuan (about 384 million U.S. dollars) to develop and produce civilian helicopters.
AVIC II, China’s only state-run manufacturer of helicopters, has set a target of becoming one of the world’s leading helicopter suppliers in the next 12 years.

China will continue to be the world’s biggest purchaser of aircraft and engines over the next 20 years, says a Rolls-Royce forecast released at the Beijing Aviation Expo on Wednesday.
The passenger traffic in China grows at an annual rate of 8.8 percent, and the figure is likely to be much higher in the near future, says the report.

A key production line that has an annual capacity of five million tons of sheet metal was put into production Thursday by Masteel, one of the largest iron and steel producers in China.
