YunNan Province is seeking 500 billion yuan (US$67 billion) in investment from home and abroad, government official said yesterday.
Investment opportunities exist in industries such as biological resources, equipment and manufacturing, tourism and culture. Yunnan plans to hold a conference to promote the investment projects in Shanghai Wednesday and Thursday.
No tag for this post.China’s imports of copper scrap in the first seven months grew steadily to 2.99 million tons, up 17.7 percent from the same period last year, the General Administration of Customs said on Thursday.
The imports were valued at US$3.09 billion, soaring 87 percent, or US$1,033 per ton on average, up 59 percent, greatly squeezing profits of domestic copper processing enterprises.

Production of ethylene vinyl acetate resins - used in products such as packaging, adhesives, footwear and clothing - is due to begin late next year at a new plant to be built by the venture, said the Chinese company, which is also known as Sinopec.
