ZTE inks cooperation deal with Vodafone
ZTE Corp, China’s No.2 telecoms equipment supplier, said on Wednesday it had inked a network equipment agreement with the world’s second largest mobile operator by users, Vodafone Group Plc.
The agreement is a contract framework, which can be used if Vodafone chooses ZTE as its network equipment supplier in the future. It covers ZTE’s full equipment portfolio, including GSM, optical transmission.
The agreement was reached on the basis of previous pleasing partnership between the two. In February this year, the two parties signed an agreement on terminal equipment cooperation. They jointly sold eight million units of GSM terminals last year, the Chinese firm said in a statement.
Vodafone which owns more than 200 million users in 25 countries is the world’s leading telecoms operator.
ZTE has won more and more acknowledges from global leading operators due to its strong ability in technology innovation and successful overseas operation strategy. In 2007 alone, it formed partnerships with Norway’s Telenor and Sweden’s TeliaSonera.
