WABCO opens 1st manufacturing facility in China
Today, WABCO Holdings Inc, one of the world’s leading suppliers of anti-lock braking systems (ABS), compressors and other braking devices, formally established its first wholly-owned factory in Qindao with a total investment of US$35 million.
Currently, WABCO’s Qingdao factory employs 240 employees. It is estimated that the number will surpass 1,000 by 2012.
In 1981, WABCO, together with Daimler Chrysler, jointly developed anti-locking braking system for trucks, trailers and buses.
Jacques Esculier, CEO of WABCO, said that Qingdao is leading WABCO’s efforts to establish a global supply chain. He was very pleased to bring WABCO’s technology into China, to help China improve road safety and work efficiency, and Meanwhile, to make contribution to a better environment in China.
Leon Liu, regional president for the Asia-Pacific region, said that WABCO’s anti-locking braking system can help improve the auto security, and the company’s advanced compressor technology can provide supports for China’s transmission from Euro2 to Euro3 by reducing emissions and improving fuel economy.
