New Zealand wine promotion was held in Shanghai

New Zealand Wine Association and New Zealand Trade Development Bureau held the New Zealand wine promotion in Shanghai on March 6. About 20 owners of New Zealand chateaux wnet together to display their wine products and told visitors their stories.

At the promotion, 23 New Zealand wineries displayed more than 100 fine wines. Visitors could taste diverse styles of wines. It’s biggest feast for New Zealand wine in Chinese Mainland.

It’s the first time for New Zealand to held wine promotion in Shanghai. It based on the 2007 fairs and attracted more than 200 representatives of trade section.

2008 New Zealand wine promotions welcome media, representatives of trade section, importers and exporters and wine consultants as well as wine educators.

Most of the exhibitors were minitype family enterprises and fine wine chateaux. China was a new and potential market for them. Chinese demand for New Zealand fine wines increased so that New Zealand vintners were interested in establishing a good image in Chinese market. New Zealand exports to China increased from 124074 liters(June, 2006) to 204464 liters(June, 2007), nealy up 65%. It indicated that China had a large demand in New Zealand fine wine.

The exhibitors were Alpha Domus Wines, Bahich Wines, Borthwick Vineyard, Desert Heart Vineyards, Forrest Estate Winery, Gibbston Highgate Estate, Jackson Estate, Nobilo Wine Group, Omaka Springs Estate, Oyster Bay New Zealand, Schebert Wines, Seifried Estate, Spy Valley Wines, Staete landt Vineyard, Stirling Vines, Stoneleigh, TeAwa Winery, Te Mta Estate Winery, Terrace Heights Estate, Tohu Wines, Villa Maria Estate, Woollaston Estates.
