Lenovo Group launches online store on Taobao.com
China-based Lenovo Group Ltd, the fourth-largest PC maker in the world, launched an online store on Aug. 26 to sell products directly to consumers on Taobao.com, the nation’s largest online consumer-to-consumer (C2C) platform and also Asia’s biggest network retailer.
After several years of efforts, the online shopping platform has been well-developed and have a substantially large and increasingly growing customer base, said Zhang Hua, Lenovo’s sales manager of Greater China and Russian regions, adding that a prosperous outlook of the online transaction model is the main reason for the group to take this step.
Zhang noted the online store, which can offer products with substantial lower prices to consumers, will help the company to further expand its business to more regions, especially those small villages and towns. Its S9 laptop model will be offered via the online store, provide a record low price of RMB 2,999 per unit.
The company said it has been putting efforts on expanding marketing channels, and would keep on tapping the new online shopping platform to widen its business scale.
