Huawei Showcases Innovative Mobile Concepts at 2008 Mobile World Congress

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (”Huawei“), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, will exhibit its latest mobile technologies, products and end-to-end mobile broadband solutions under the theme “Convergence, Broadband, Green, and Evolution” at 2008 Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain from 11-14 February.

Huawei will be demonstrating its capability in upcoming technologies including fourth-generation multi-mode integration base stations, UMTS/WiMAX femtocell home solutions, and LTE solutions, which are designed to help operators address challenges and bring new opportunities and long-term value.

At the event Huawei will demonstrate Long Term Evolution (”LTE”) applications by means of multiplex HDTV services and mutual gaming that has transmission speeds of 100 Mbps. Huawei will also be exhibiting 5.76Mbps HSUPA high-speed data services, MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) solutions over HSPA, and interoperability VoIP (Voice over IP) demonstrations over different mobile standards.

“Mobile network technology changes so rapidly that we are constantly having to design innovate solutions today that meet the future needs of the telecommunications industry,” said Yu Cheng dong, President of Mobile Network, Huawei. “Large-scale events like the Mobile World Congress offer opportunities for Huawei to showcase its expertise in innovation, integration, and convergence while also providing it with a platform to showcase its commitment to creating a better environment for human beings.”

Under the theme “Convergence, Broadband, Green, and Evolution”, Huawei will be demonstrating many customer-focused solutions.

Huawei’s fourth-generation BTS platform will be shown to bridge the gap between different types of communication standards to achieve the best integration and performance.

Huawei’s IP Bearer and multi-carrier technologies will demonstrate how they can help operators save transmission costs, improve their quality of service, and speed up introduction of broadband services.

Huawei’s Green Site Solution, will illustrate how by means of highly-efficient power amplifiers, multi-carriers, distributed architecture and temperature controls it can help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 60% and cut overhead costs by at least 30%.

Huawei’s global sales of mobile network solutions have enjoyed ten consecutive years of growth with 2007’s figures topping USD 7 billion. The company has won 44 new UMTS contracts in 2007 bringing the accumulated total to 86. GSM contracts, and Huawei has won 65 EV-DO commercial contracts as well as 12 WiMAX contracts on commercial networks and 26 on precommercial networks.
