FAW Group Corp sales rose 46.9% in Jan
FAW Group Corp, one of China’s third largest vehicle makers, said it sold 166,518 vehicles in January, a rise of 46.9% year-on-year.
This surge in sales follows a general increase in vehicle sales in 2007 of 23.2%, as compared to 2006. It had an output of 1.47 million motor vehicles last year and sold 1.44 million.
Sedan sales rose 58.3% to 146,294 units while medium and heavy-duty truck sales grew 11.6% to 11,263.
FAW VW, a large-scale passenger car production joint venture with Volkswagen AG, sold 65,709 cars in January, a surge of 104.8% from a year earlier.
Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor, its joint venture with Toyota Motor Corp. <7203>, sold 34,139 cars last year, up 69.8%.
