China-U.S. trade volume up 15.6%

China-U.S. trade soared 15.6% to hit US$221.36 billion in the first three quarters compared with the same period last year.

According to China Customs, China’s export to the United States surged 15.8% to reach US$169.99 billion, accounting for 19.4% of China’s total exports, while the imports from the U.S. increased by 15.1% to reach US$51.37 billion, accounting for 7.45% of China’s total import.

China’s trade surplus with the U.S. during the Jan-Nov period jumped 16.1% to reach US$118.62 billion. The processing trade contributed to most of the surplus, which accounted for US$91.46 billion, or 77.1% of the total.

In the first three quarters, the trade of the foreign-funded enterprises occupied 65.5% of the total trade between the two sides, and it contributed 72.4% of the total trade surplus.
