China to wait for right time to streamline energy price
Chinese expert has called energy industry to make appropriate investment and wait for a right time to streamline energy prices, though the international oil price has fallen below 60 US dollar per barrel.
Han Wenke, director with Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that it is the right time to stimulate the economic growth. If China adjusts its energy prices at this time, it probably will result in increasing in the majority energy prices except for product oil price, thus further cutting oil demand. Therefore, energy price reform awaits an appropriate chance.
At present, the world economic crisis has restrained China’s coal export, slowed down domestic economy and further decreased domestic coal and power demand. The shrinkage of energy investments will not be favorable for the economic growth in the future.
He urged the Chinese government to adjust energy policies in time to prevent drastic fluctuations and boost domestic energy consumption and investments.
