China agrees to nearly double ore price

Baosteel, China’s largest steelmaker, said Tuesday it had agreed to nearly double what it pays Anglo-Australian mining group Rio Tinto for iron ore.
Baosteel, acting on behalf of China’s steel industry, negotiated to pay between 80 and 97 percent more than last year depending on the category of iron ore, which is used to make steel.

China Aviation Group to boost auto-making business

China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I) and China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II) will be merged to form a new China Aviation Industry Group Corporation, and one of its top priorities is to expand its auto business. Dongfeng Motor’s investment in AVIC II’s subsidiary Hafei Auto is put on the table again.

Baosteel to form 35.9 bln yuan Guangdong venture

Baosteel Group Corp., China’s biggest steelmaker, and two rivals in the southern province of Guangdong agreed to form a 35.9 billion yuan ($5.2 billion) venture to help build a 60 billion yuan steel plant.
