China imported 30,000 vehicles in January, up 51 percent y/y

China imported a total of 30,000 vehicles in the first month of 2008, up 51 percent from one year earlier, according to latest statistics released by General Administration of Customs.
China may import over 360,000 vehicles this year, an increase of 20 percent from last year, said general manager of China Trading Center for Automobile Import.

69.6 mln tons oil reserve added to PetroChina’s Kelamayi in 2007

Proven oil reserves at PetroChina’s<601857><857>
Kelamayi oilfield have increased by 69.6% in 2007, Chinese official media reported.
Located in the northwestern Xinjiang Autonomous Region, the oilfield’s output of crude oil and natural gas were 12.17 million tons and 2.91 billion cubic meters last year, up 2.27% and 1.04% respectively.

China sets goal for energy saving in 2008

China targets to reduce its energy consumption by 5% for one unit of gross domestic product (GDP) this year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.
