China’s imports of luxury, big-sized SUV may surge 45% this year, analysts say

China’s imports of large, luxury SUV vehicles will continue to surge 45 percent this year, analysts said.
World premium SUV maker Land Rover sold 6,573 SUV vehicles in Chinese market last year, up 143 percent from one year earlier.

Dongfeng Nissan to produce engines for TEANA vehicles next year

Dongfeng Nissan will not longer import VQ engines for Nissan TEANA vehicles from Japan, instead, these engines will be locally produce in China, Nissan vice president Yasuaki Hashimoto said.
Originally VQ engine was scheduled to be locally produced by July of 2008, however it has been postpone to 2009, according to company sources.

China’s Soueast Motor to sell Mitsubishi vehicles without Mitsubishi logo

Robert Wiseman Dairies Plc, Scotland’s largest fresh milk provider, said rising oil and plastic costs will probably force the company to raise prices.

Chinese industrial association denies rumors of “ceiling” in iron ore talks

The China Iron and Steel Association has denied market rumors that it has set a 30-percent ceiling price rise in talks with iron ore suppliers, according to a report in Thursday’s China Securities Journal.
Association vice chairman Luo Bingsheng said the rumors were not helping negotiations for 2008 iron ore imports, the paper reported.
