Rising yuan stays strong against US dollar

The yuan remained strong at a new central parity rate of 7.1998 against the US dollar yesterday, compared with 7.202 on Tuesday, after analysts said rising inflationary pressure may accelerate appreciation.
But some economists said resorting to yuan appreciation to ease inflation might not be effective.

New 3G service set for Nov. in Hong Kong

China’s steel product exports contract after cut in tax rebates

China’s exports of steel products tumbled in the second half of 2007 after cuts in export tax rebates.
Net exports of crude steel soared during the first half but slid 22.55 percent year-on-year in the second half, according to statistics released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) on Wednesday.
